What Is Your Company’s Management Style?

1.     Choose a management style or a combination of management styles for your company.

I will choose participative management style.

2.     Why would this/these style(s) work best for your company?

Because I think letting every employee to participate the decision making is important for my business, I choose participative management style. In bubble tea shop, except the managers, every employee is for serving the customers. They are the main group who directly communicate with the consumers. In this way, they will know what the customers’ drink preference are, what the common questions that the customers often ask, and etc. Since the boss and the managers cannot directly contact with these customers everyday, these employees or waiters are “eyes” for boss and managers. Also, I believe that this type of management style can make the employees feel valued and trusted.

3.     What would you look for in a manager for your company? There will be some things that are universal, but what you look for will also be different depending on if the person is an outside hire or is being promoted.

a.     Outside Hire

The manager who is responsible for DIY area, I will hire him or her in outside. Since DIY is a feature for our business and it has to be really professional, I will hire this manager in outside. This manager has to be professional and patient. Afterall, service is one of the most important factors for a company.

b.     Promoted

The manager who is responsible for customers service, I will promoted him or her inside of our shop. This person have to be patient and open-minded.  He or she should be willing to accept opinions and advices. When TEA TIME faced a tough customer, he or she can deal with it patiently.

c.      Universal

They should be patient and outgoing. Respecting others is a important factor.

4.     What would your management structure look like?

I would choose flat organization structure for my management structure.

There will be one CEO, two managers, and eight staffs.

5.     Why would you choose this management structure for your company?

Since my company is a bubble tea shop, it is not a big firm. There will not be too many employees in this shop, we do not need too many leaders and complex management structure. If I choose a more complex organizational structure, it will bring more issues and over cost. I only need two managers and eight staffs. One of the manager will be responded for the area of customer service and ordering foods. The other manager will be responded for DIY area. Since DIY is a special or feature for our business, it is important to put a professional leader to organize. Meanwhile, each manager will have four staffs. They will give orders and instructions to them directly. The two managers will report the work to CEO every week.
